Thank You for Saving Me!

A Thank You Letter from a Jewish Girl Rescued from Gentiles

The ′Our Land of Israel′ publication received an emotional thank you letter from a Jewish girl who was saved from assimilation * She recently married a Torah Jew-Yeshiva student, all because of a small ad published last year in the pamphlet. Amazing!

"Last year I was about to marry Monir.  Due to Heavenly grace, good Jews, and your publication, I married Shlomi, a Yeshiva student, last week.  It would never have happened if not for the ad that appeared in the "Our Land of Israel′ pamphlet.  For this I am forever grateful to you!

"I did my Sherut Leumi (National Service) stint in a hospital in the center of the country.  I assisted many of the patients, which is a great mitzvah in itself.  However, it was there that I met Monir, a medical student, young, pleasant and full of joie de vivre′. In the beginning, I was mad at myself for conversing with an Arab, but as time passed, I got used to his compliments and companionship that he offered.  He treated me well, bought me expensive gifts, and drove me to the Sherut girls′ apartment where I lived.   He swore that he was willing to convert for my sake, and I believed him, as he was always expressing interest in Judaism and mitzvos.  I felt like I was doing outreach with him.

"After a half a year of being in contact, he invited me to his parents′ home.  His mother presented me with jewelry, as if I was her son′s bride. I, too, began thinking of marriage.  We weren′t speaking of conversion any more, and we planned on running away abroad and getting married far from everyone.  I couldn′t keep it a secret any longer, and I ′spilled the beans′ to my roommate on Friday. She promised not to tell anyone, and thank G-d that she didn′t keep her promise.

"That very Shabbos my roommate read the ′Our Land of Israel′ pamphlet. Her eyes fell upon the small advertisement from the Lehava organization, calling out to anyone who knows a girl in touch with or thinking about being in contact with non Jews, to make contact with them at once.  On Motzoei Shabbos, five minutes after Shabbos′ departure, she dialed Lehava′s number, spoke to Anat, told her the story about my relationship with the Arab.

"Anat spoke to Rabbi Aryeh, better known as ′the magician.′ The next day he was on the phone with me.  He said that he was in my department in the hospital, and wishes to send the staff a gift through me. "We met on Sunday afternoon. I didn′t get a gift for the department, but I will never forget those hours.  We sat and spoke for six hours straight.  Slowly, I woke up from the dream world that I had been in.  I felt that I was born again.

"That very evening I arrived at Rebetzin Barnes′ warm home, there I met many other girls with similar stories.  Boruch Hashem, after being there for a year, with my second mother- I was married last week to Shlomi. My rescue began with a small ad that you printed in your ′Our Land of Israel′ pamphlet.

Thank you for being part of saving an entire world!
