Oz and Insolence
Hypocrisy knows no limits. Amos Oz, a well-known leftist author, came to express his solidarity with the El- Arakib Bedouin tribe, after administration inspectors destroyed illegal buildings at their village. ′I understand you,′ said the author, who lives in Arad, to the people whose homes were demolished for the fourth time in the last period of time. ′Every person likes his home, the place where he grew up and wants to live his life.′
Oz said that it is hard for him to observe the government′s treatment of the Bedouin residents, and stressed that a solution must be found for the Bedouin population′s housing problem. ′I am pained by what is happening to my neighbors. It is hard for me to witness this barbaric destruction.′
Where were you, Mr. Amos Oz, when a ′barbaric act of destruction′ – as you put it- was carried out in Gush Katif?
