Quotable Quotes
Clearing Out or Expulsion?
Kalman Libeskind is a blogger on the NRG Maariv website. The following is a quote from his blog: "Terminology, oh terminology! The word "expulsion" appeared hundreds of times, with various inflections, regarding the foreign workers′ children.
" A few weeks ago, when we commemorated five years since the disengagement, not one newspaper was willing to use this word to describe what the Gush Katif settlers went through. ′A legitimate decision of the government cannot be coined expulsion′, the media lied to themselves and tried to lie to the Gush people.
So maybe someone could explain to me why, when ten thousand law abiding people are thrown out of their houses it is called ′clearing out′, as if we were discussing clearing off the table after a meal, but when discussing enforcing the law on lawbreakers, it is called ′cruel expulsion?′" |
