This week′s Haftorah describes how the gentiles scorn us, the Jewish Nation. Their scorn for us is summed up in three short words: ′You are not My people.′ The gentiles see the fact that we are still in exile, and have no redeemer, as proof that we are not G-d′s people anymore.
Regarding this, the Novi says: "instead (in the place- exile) of that which was said unto them: ′Ye are not My people′ (and the proof is that Hashem doesn′t return you to Eretz Yisroel), it shall be said unto them: (in Eretz Yisroel at the time of the ingathering of the exiles) ′Ye are the children of the living G-d.′
The Novi continues to teach that in order to achieve this level of ′ the children of the living G-d′, we must unite around one great mitzvah: ′and they shall appoint themselves one head, and shall go up out of the land."
And the Novi continues and says that the time of the ingathering of the exiles (kibbutz goluyos) is a great and auspicious day for the Jews, and every Jewish home that was planted in chutz l′aretz in exile, will return to Eretz Yisroel and will be replanted there- ′ for Great Shall be the Day of Yezreel.′
The return of the Jewish Nation to Eretz Yisroel is returning to the holy Torah and to Hashem. In Eretz Yisroel the Jewish Nation returns and cleaves: the G-dly faith, justice, law, grace, and compassion become revealed, and thus the Novi concludes: ′And I will betroth thee unto Me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto Me in righteousness, and in justice, and in lovingkindness, and in compassion.′
