A Day in the Life of MK Dr. Michael Ben – Ari

Before the elections Rabbi Sholom Dov Volpo and myself were wise enough to step aside and send Rabbi Michael Ben- Ari to the Knesset as the Eretz Yisroel Shelanu" ( "Our Land of Israel") representative.
People who never heard of Dr. Michael Ben –Ari, raised many an eyebrow. After all, he was someone practically unknown to the vast Israeli public. However, knowing Michael as I did, I knew that he would be a success story.
Rabbi Ben- Ari is a G-d fearing Jew, talented but humble, an ardent follower of Rabbi Meir Kahane, an eloquent speaker and a dynamic activist, but above all else, he is an idealist with a well thought out principles based on the Torah. Ben – Ari is devoted to every Jewish cause.
This week I joined him on a typical workday. As one who is used to an intensive schedule, I saw how he gave of himself totally for the public. At 7:00 a.m. he was in his office, attending to the communal needs. The needs of the Jewish nation are many, and MK Ben – Ari tries hard to assist wherever and however possible.
From there he is off to the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, where he reminds the governing representatives that the law must be upheld in cases of Arab lawbreakers, as well as Jewish. From there he continued to the Education committee, who were discussing the draft-dodging issue, and sets the record straight in answer to a leftist MK who badmouthed the charedim for a high draft dodging rate, stating that in Tel Aviv the rate is higher.
He concludes his committee rounds in the Law and Justice Committee, where he leads the struggle against the leftist gang that has taken over the state. Ben – Ari said that the High Court has become a branch of the Meretz Party, and requests a report from the general Attorney′s office about Arab (anarchist) leftist rioters whose police files are closed.
At twelve noon, Ben Ari is on his way to the Kever of Shimon Hatzaddik, where a tour for MKs is taking place. Ben Ari makes a few succinct statements facing a handful of leftists wishing to spread fear and prevent Jews from coming home.
At 3:00 p.m., he is on his way to Tel Aviv to participate in a memorial ceremony honoring Jewish hero Yisroel Yair Stern. Many of the Lechi fighters feel that Ben –Ari is their man in the Knesset, and he honors them and bows his head in respect of these heroes of the Underground.
The day has not yet ended for Mk Dr. Ben-Ari, and it is back to the Knesset to speak in the plenum about the peace fantasies of the Left-wingers. He calls them to wake up and stop fooling themselves. From there it′s back to his office, where he pens an article, and in the evening he attends an event with ministers discussing the construction freeze in Yesha. Ben –Ari does not bow or capitulate and reminds the ministers that they were elected because the Jewish nation doesn′t want another expulsion, freeze and destruction, and not because of the Haaretz newspaper.
After the session, at 11:00 p.m..I wish him a safe trip home, to which he answers smilingly: I wish I was going home, but I must go to Ariel to get a security officer from Har Bracha released from remand. He was arrested for preventing Arabs from attacking the settlement."
