Rochel is weeping for her children
Mezuzah and Holy books were thrown on the ground. Not in Europe, here.
The Rochel Emainu Shul in Givat Menachem near the Nachliel settlement was destroyed by the security forces, without any prior warning. Residents now hope to re-establish the shul, if they can raise the funds. If only it was called a mosque …..
Earlier this week, the shul in Givat Menachem near Nachliel, which was destroyed by the Police Forces, was re-inaugurated. The affixing of the mezuzah in the shul was attended by Rabbi Dov Lior, Rabbi of Kiryat Arba and head of the Hesder yeshiva, other Rabbis from the area, and a large crowd of participants.
Rabbi Avi Cohen, director of Chabad and an Eretz Yisroel Shelanu activist, resident of Nachliel and founder of the community shul, tells of the shocking procedure in which the security forces demolished the community shul: "The synagogue was built on the 11th of Cheshvan, long before the freeze order. This is a permanent structure that is occupied 24 hours a day, a completely painted and renovated building, which also includes an Aron Kodesh and library."
He said that security forces destroyed the permanent structure without warning. "The moment I heard they were here, I ran there and saw that they had declared the area a closed military area. They let me take the Torah with me, but everything else stayed there. All my pleas did not help - they destroyed everything. I told them that the structure is a synagogue - it did not help. We had received no warning and no one expected them to come."
Cohen estimates the damage to tens of thousands of shekels. "I am here on a pile of ruins, and I tell you it′s a total wreck. It′s a disgrace; there are tens of thousands of shekels in damages, and all the holy books are scattered on the ground including the mezuzah. We simply can not digest what happened here."
"In response to the destruction, the foundations of the shul were re-poured since we must cancel the harsh laws that may occur up On High. Something drastic happened here.
"We will pray the evening prayer over the ruins. It′s just unbelievable that a synagogue is destroyed without blinking an eye. They would never dare to destroy a mosque. Apparently when it comes to Jews, they are always quick on the trigger".
