Miracles and the Love of the Land

The Revelation of Hashem in Egypt is a descent "for the Heaven being distinguished from the earth and Hashem′s glory fills it all′ (Ibn Ezra). The huge difference between Heaven and earth and the inability to connect them only exists abroad. Chazal decreed impurity on the air and soil of the world nations to teach the polarization between the sanctity of the heavens and the impurity of the lands of the nations. Therefore, when G-d revealed Himself in Egypt and said "I will descend to save him", the Holy Ohr HaChayim interprets, "Hashem said "I will descend"- He agreed on the so-called lessening of His honor alongside the rescue of Israel, as He says ′to save him′.

In contrast, Land of Israel is the Gate of Heaven: it is so close that it reaches to the Heavenly Throne. In Israel it is revealed that Hashem is one, Above and below without a difference. As it says, "and to bring him up ... to a good and wide land "; G-d says:" Because as I dwell Above, I will place them in a land that is above all the lands."(Ibn Ezra).

Therefore, to teach the people of Israel how important the Land is, and to make it beloved to them, Hashem Himself came down and performed all the miracles in Egypt. It is a known fact that Hashem does not do miracles in vain – each of the miracles He performs has a lesson for man and the nation. If, G-d forbid, the value of the land of Israel is not clear, then all the miracles were in vain.

Then as now: ′As in the days of your coming forth out of the land of Egypt will I show unto him wonders′- our love for the Land will attract the greatest miracles we are waiting for so much in the Land of Israel.
