The Rabbonim were shocked to learn that after the Arab enemy ransacked, wrecked and burned the shuls on Kristallnacht, 5765, chicken coops were built on some of the shul properties.

Rabbonim and public figures commemorated the eighth day of Elul at the Gush Katif Museum in Yerushalayim.  The eighth of Elul is the calamitous day that the Gush Katif shuls were destroyed after the expulsion.

On and around that day many Rabbonim visited, including Rabbi Yaakov Yosef, eldest son of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, and Rav of the Givat Moshe neighborhood. During the course of his visit, Rabbi Yosef ruled that all the shuls in Gush Katif are holy, and international supervision must be demanded to oversee their protection. At the conclusion of his visit, Rabbi Yosef lit a memorial candle in memory of the Gush Katif kedoshim.  Rabbi Yosef reminded of the warnings given about the asininity in uprooting the settlements, and called for immediate and thorough care of the expellees, who were thrown out of their homes and have yet to have peace of mind and permanent residences.

Other honored guests include Rabbi Yaakov Ariel, Rav of Ramat Gan, Rabbi Yeshayahu Hertzl, Rav of Natzeret Ilit, Rabbi Elyakim Levanon, Rosh Yeshiva of Alon More, Rabbi Sholom Dov Volpo, Rabbi Yisrael Ariel of Machon HaMikdash and Rav in Yerushalayim, Rabbi Eliyahu Schlezinger,Rav of Gilo, Rabbi Yehuda Zoldan, Rav of the Yamit Yeshiva in Neve Dekalim, Rabbi Avraham Schreiber, Rav of Kfar Darom, his father Rabbi  Gedalya Schreiber, former CEO of the Chief Rabbinate, Rabbi Eliyahu Vishletzky, noted lecturer, Attorney Gilad Corinaldi, Rabbi Binyomin Be'eri of Yeshiva Kerem B'Yavne, Rabbi Yitzchok Levi and more.

The visitors toured the museum, viewed the exhibits, watched the video clips, and expressed their solidarity with the expellees' suffering.  The museum staff revealed for the first time the horrific results of their inquiry as to the fate of the shuls today.  The investigation was made in Gaza, and the shocking results were made public for the first time.  The investigation revealed that the Arab enemies built chicken coops on some of the shul grounds.
