"Netanyahu's Unforgivable Crime- Freezing Construction"

Rabbi Holtzman, you have fought the freezing of construction during the Olmert administration. Do you feel a change for the better with the new rightist Netanyahu government?

Sadly, no. The construction remains at a standstill. I read in the papers about the construction being "thawed"; for now, we haven't seen this happen. From our point of view, wherever a Jew lives, he has the right to live and expand his quarters, just like in the rest of the world. We don't want to return to the Pale of Settlement, or the Ghettoes. It is but a few days after Holocaust Day, and we know the significance of Jews being restricted. I call upon our ministers to apply pressure so the shame of the frozen construction will be lifted from Beitar Ilit and the entire country.

They will explain that Netanyahu is fearful of the Obama Administration.

The goy sees what we broadcast. If we project might, power and sticking up for our rights, the goy will capitulate. It all depends on us, and not on the pressure from the United States. Whoever will give in in Beitar and forbid construction, should be aware that it will spread to Elad, Beit Shemesh and Tel Aviv. After that we will 'welcome back' refugees by the 'right of return'. As far as they are concerned, only the sea is the border.

I take this opportunity and call out to Housing Minister Attias: he who gives up on Beitar Ilit and seeks consensus, will end up with nothing-not even those places in the consensus. One must put up a struggle until it is permitted to build throughout the entire country.

How are you preparing to fight the frozen construction decree?

We are working on several fronts, and hope to succeed. We are not fighting for Beitar only, rather for the entire country. The continued freezing of construction is an unforgivable moral crime. Regarding the charedi population, it is a ticking time bomb. I call upon the Prime Minister Mr. Binyamin Netanyahu: don't desert the nation and the land! Whoever forbids construction will fall as Olmert did. It doesn't pay to harm Eretz Yisroel.

You are facing another struggle in Beitar: not employing Arabs in the city.

I think that it is an absolute must to heed the Rabbonim's call not to employ Arabs for security reasons. It is a life threatening issue, not to be taken lightly, especially after a number of incidents in our city. I insist on limiting the entrance of workers. I call out to Beitar residents: when renovating your home, remember the Torah's injunction, 'and your brother shall dwell with you'. If you employ non Jewish laborers, they must be under watch until the minute they leave the city. We intend to step up the patrols, to check the construction permits and the work permits. We will check if the on site inspector is armed. We hope that these steps will decrease the amount of Arab workers to a minimum.
